Kivu Clinics: clinics, pharmacies and appointment requests in Rwanda
Part of Kivu Super App (kivu.site). In the app this section is called Clinics & Hospitals.
Open KivuKivu Clinics is the health directory of Kivu Super App, a free app made in Kigali, Rwanda. It lists clinics, dental clinics, pharmacies, optical shops and veterinary clinics with their address, phone and place on the map. A clinic that manages its own page also lists its services with prices, and a patient can send a request for a free time; the clinic confirms or cancels it.
Kivu Clinics is a directory, not a medical service. Kivu does not treat patients, gives no medical advice, does not sell medicines, does not hold the money and takes no commission. The patient pays the clinic directly. Many pages were added by Kivu from public map data and are not yet managed by the clinic; on those pages you can call and find the way, but not book. Listing a clinic is free.

| Sections | 5: Clinic, Dental, Pharmacy, Optic, Veterinary |
| How many places | More than 600 across Rwanda (October 2026). Most of them were added by Kivu from public Google Maps data; a clinic can take over its page for free. |
| What a clinic page shows | Name, section, city, address, map pin, phone, and — when the clinic has added them — a description, photo, opening hours with an Open or Closed mark, services with prices, marks and a YouTube video |
| Marks a clinic can set | 24/7, Emergency, Ambulance, Insurance, Lab, X-Ray, Wheelchair, Parking, Wi-Fi |
| Services | Listed by the clinic: a name, a price in Rwandan francs (RWF), and an optional description and photo. Up to 300 services. |
| How to book | Choose a service, a date and a time, add a short note if you want, and tap "Book Now". The request is saved, and a chat with the clinic opens with the request already written. The message is sent to the clinic by itself. |

| Pages not managed by the clinic | They show the link "Is this your business?". They have no services, no booking and no chat — only the phone, the address and the map. |
| Check before publishing | Every new clinic page is checked automatically by AI before it appears |
| Paid options | Optional boosts for clinics from 1,500 RWF a day. Everything else is free. |
How to use it, step by step
If you are looking for a clinic, a pharmacy or a doctor
- Open kivu.site, sign in with a free account and open Clinics.
- Choose a section — Clinic, Dental, Pharmacy, Optic or Veterinary — or search by name or service. You can filter by city, "Open Now" and "Top Rated", and switch to the map to see places near you. "Open Now" shows only places whose opening hours are known.
- Open a page. The Info tab shows the address, opening hours and marks such as 24/7, Emergency or Insurance. Tap "Call" to see the phone number, or "Location" to open the place on the map.
- If the clinic lists services, open the Services tab to see them with prices. Choose a service, pick a date on the calendar (up to 90 days ahead) and a free time.
- If you want, write a short note for the clinic, then tap "Book Now". The request is saved, and Kivu Chat opens with the clinic with the service, date and time already written. The message is sent by itself.
- Wait for the clinic's answer. You get a notification when the clinic confirms or cancels the request. If the clinic does not answer in 10 hours, the request is cancelled automatically.
- In "My Appointments" you see the status: Pending, Confirmed, Paid or Cancelled. You can cancel there if your plans change; the clinic is notified.
- Pay the clinic directly at the visit. Ask the clinic about your insurance before you go.
- In an emergency do not wait for an answer in the app: call an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital.
If you run a clinic, a pharmacy or a practice
- Open kivu.site, sign in with a free account and open Clinics. First search for your place: it may already be listed from public map data.
- If your place is there, open it and tap "Is this your business?", then "Send request". You get a code. Kivu calls the phone number shown on the page and asks whether you sent the request; you can also write to Kivu from the official page of the business and give the code. After the check the page is yours, for free.
- If your place is not there, tap "List My Clinic". Fill in the name, section, city, description, phone, working days and hours, the address and the map pin, then add your services with prices and tap "Submit Application". The application is checked before the page appears.
- In "My Clinics" you can edit your page. Services, prices, hours and phone change at once; a new name, description, cover photo or address is checked again. A service that has upcoming appointments or blocked days cannot be renamed or removed until they are finished, cancelled or unblocked.
- When a patient sends a request you get a notification. Open "Bookings" and tap "Confirm" or "Reject". Answer within 10 hours, or the request is cancelled automatically.
- When the patient has paid you, tap "Mark Paid" to keep your own records in order.
- Use the block tab to close a service for days when it is not offered — for example the doctor's day off or a holiday. You can close a whole range of days at once: it shows as one line, and one tap on "Unblock" opens it again.
- Tap "QR Code" on your page to print a code for the reception, so patients can open your page and book the next visit.
- If a page is about your business and you want it removed, write through Contact Us; Kivu takes it down within 48 hours.
What it costs
Finding a clinic, calling, chat and appointment requests are free for patients. Listing a clinic, taking over an existing page, the list of services, the booking calendar and the QR code are free for clinics. There is no commission and no fee per appointment.
The only paid thing is an optional boost for a clinic page that is already published. A boost shows the clinic higher in the list for 1, 3, 7 or 30 days. Clinics use the business price list. Prices in Rwandan francs (RWF):
| Boost | What it does | 1 day | 3 days | 7 days | 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Top Rated Clinic | Paid placement above all regular clinics. The name is a label of the boost, not a rating by patients or by Kivu. | 1,500 | 3,750 | 7,500 | 22,500 |
| Hot Pick Clinic | Paid placement above the other boosted clinics | 2,500 | 6,250 | 12,500 | 37,500 |
- Sticker on the clinic card (24/7 OPEN, INSURANCE or TOP DOCTORS): 500 RWF a day, with the same discounts for longer periods (1,250 for 3 days, 2,500 for 7 days, 7,500 for 30 days). Sold only together with a boost. A sticker is a paid label chosen by the clinic, not a check by Kivu.
- Golden design for the clinic card: 500 RWF once, for the whole boost period. Sold only together with a boost.
- You pay inside the app with MTN Mobile Money and confirm the payment with your MoMo PIN on your phone. The app shows the total before you pay.
- A boost changes only the position and the look of a clinic card. It says nothing about the quality of care, it does not skip the check, and a "verified" mark cannot be bought.
- When the boost ends, the sticker and the golden design end with it. The clinic stays published in its normal place.
- Only one boost at a time: a new boost can be bought only after the current one ends.
What is good about it
- More than 600 clinics, pharmacies, dental, optical and veterinary places across Rwanda in one list and on one map.
- Five sections and a city filter make it quick to find, for example, a pharmacy or a vet near you.
- Clinics that manage their page show services with prices, so you know the cost before the visit.
- You choose a free time yourself instead of waiting on the phone; one patient per service and time.
- The clinic must answer: a request with no answer for 10 hours is cancelled automatically and you are told.
- Notifications for both sides: the clinic learns about a new request or a cancellation, the patient learns about the answer.
- Free for clinics: no listing fee, no commission, and a free booking calendar.
- A clinic can take over a page that already exists, after a check by phone, and then edit everything itself.
- The whole app is under 400 KB and opens in the phone browser, and it works in 11 languages.
- Every page has a report button, and a business can ask to remove its page.
Limits, and what protects you
| What to know | What protects you |
|---|---|
| Kivu is not a medical service. It gives no medical advice, no diagnosis and no prescriptions, and it does not replace a doctor. | Use Kivu to find and contact a clinic. Medical questions are for the doctor at the visit. |
| The app is not for emergencies. A request can wait up to 10 hours for an answer. | In an emergency call an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital at once. Do not wait for a confirmation in the app. |
| Kivu does not check medical licences, the doctors' qualifications or the quality of care. The automatic check looks at the page, not at the clinic. | Check the clinic and the doctor in the usual way, and ask to see a licence if you are in doubt. Use the report button; the team hides pages that cheat. |
| Most pages were added from public map data and are not managed by the clinic. Their details may be out of date, and they have no services, no booking and no chat. | Call the phone number on the page to confirm the address and opening hours before you travel. The clinic can take over the page for free and keep it up to date. |
| An appointment is a request until the clinic confirms it, and the clinic can cancel it. | Wait for the Confirmed status and the notification before you travel, or phone the clinic. |
| Services, prices and marks such as Insurance, 24/7 or Emergency are written by the clinic. Kivu does not check which insurance a clinic accepts. | Ask the clinic in chat or by phone whether it accepts your insurance and what the visit will cost. |
| Kivu does not hold or transfer the money and cannot refund a payment. | Pay the clinic directly at the visit. If you pay by Mobile Money, check the receiver's name on your phone before you confirm. |
| When you send a request, the clinic sees your name, the phone number from your Kivu profile and the note you wrote. | Only the clinic you send the request to receives them. Write in the note only what the clinic needs to prepare, and discuss the details at the visit. |
| There is a limit on how many unanswered requests one account can have at the same time. | The limit keeps clinics free from false bookings. When a clinic answers, or you cancel a request, you can send a new one. |
| Pharmacies are listed with their contacts only. Kivu does not sell or deliver medicines and does not show which medicines are in stock. | Call the pharmacy to ask whether it has what you need. |
| There are no written reviews and no star ratings. Places have likes, and "Top Rated" in the filter sorts by the number of likes. | The paid labels "Top Rated Clinic" and "TOP DOCTORS" are advertising, not ratings. Do not choose a doctor by a label. |
What Kivu Clinics does not do
- It does not treat patients and gives no medical advice, diagnosis or prescription.
- It does not replace emergency services.
- It does not sell or deliver medicines.
- It does not check licences or promise the quality of care.
- It does not take, hold or refund payments for a visit.
- It does not take a commission or a listing fee.
- It does not handle insurance claims.
- It does not sell "verified" marks or ratings.
How Kivu earns from this section
From Clinics, Kivu earns only when a clinic chooses to buy a boost for its page. There is no commission on appointments, no listing fee and no fee for taking over a page.
Later, if users need them, Kivu plans subscriptions for businesses and advertising. Taking a percentage of what patients pay is not planned: Kivu does not handle the money between the patient and the clinic.
Questions and answers
How do I book a doctor's appointment in Rwanda with Kivu?
Open kivu.site, sign in with a free account and open Clinics. Open a clinic that lists services, choose a service, a date up to 90 days ahead and a free time, and tap "Book Now". The request is saved and a chat with the clinic opens. The clinic confirms or cancels the request, and you get a notification. You pay the clinic directly.
Why can I not book at some clinics on Kivu?
Most pages were added by Kivu from public map data, so that people can find the address and the phone. Until the clinic takes over its page, it has no services, no booking and no chat. On such a page tap "Call" to phone the clinic. Booking works only at clinics that manage their own page and list services.
Does Kivu give medical advice or sell medicines?
No. Kivu Clinics is a directory. It gives no medical advice, diagnosis or prescriptions, it does not sell or deliver medicines, and it is not for emergencies. In an emergency call an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital.
How can I find a pharmacy or a dentist near me in Rwanda?
Open Clinics in Kivu, choose the Pharmacy or Dental section, pick your city or open the map, and use "Open Now" where opening hours are known. Each page shows the address, the phone and a map pin. Call before you go: many pages come from public map data and the hours may have changed.
How much does an appointment cost, and how do I pay?
Sending a request is free. The price of the visit is set by the clinic and shown next to the service when the clinic lists it. You pay the clinic directly, in cash or by Mobile Money; Kivu does not take or hold the payment and adds no fee.
Does the clinic accept my health insurance?
Kivu does not know. A clinic can set the mark Insurance on its page, but Kivu does not check which insurance it accepts. Ask the clinic in chat or by phone before the visit.
My clinic is already on Kivu. How do I take over the page?
Open the page and tap "Is this your business?", then "Send request". You get a code. Kivu calls the phone number shown on the page and asks whether you sent the request, or you write to Kivu from the official page of the business with the code. After the check the page is yours and you can change the text, photo, services and prices. It is free.
How do I remove my clinic from Kivu?
Write to Kivu through Contact Us in the app. If the page is about your business and you want it removed, Kivu takes it down within 48 hours.
Is it free to list a clinic on Kivu?
Yes. Listing a clinic, the list of services, appointment requests and the QR code are free, and Kivu takes no commission. A clinic pays only if it chooses an optional boost to be shown higher, from 1,500 RWF a day.
Are veterinary clinics on Kivu too?
Yes. Clinics has a Veterinary section next to Clinic, Dental, Pharmacy and Optic, with the address, phone and map pin of each place.
