Kivu Challenges: contests with prizes that help Kivu grow
Part of Kivu Super App (kivu.site). In the app this section is called Kivu Challenge.
Open KivuKivu Challenges is the section of Kivu Super App where people earn prizes for helping the app grow, in the spirit of the bug bounty programs of big tech companies. There are seven challenges: find bugs, send ideas, post about Kivu on social networks, invite friends and collect stamps, a points contest for moto drivers, a video contest for creators, and Kivu Scout for people who can introduce Kivu to investors. Kivu Super App is a free app made in Kigali, Rwanda.
Joining is free and there is nothing to buy. These are contests of work and results, not a lottery: places are decided by points or by the team's review, never by chance. Each challenge has its own dates, rules and prize in the app. Prizes are paid by Mobile Money to the number you give when you join, after the team checks the winner by hand. Kivu never asks you to pay anything to join or to receive a prize.

How to use it, step by step
To join any challenge
- Open kivu.site, sign in with a free account and open Challenge.
- Choose a tab: "Competitions" for the contests or "Business & Expansion" for Kivu Scout.
- Open a card to read its rules, dates and prize. A card marked "Soon" is not open yet; a card marked "Active" accepts entries.
- The first time you join, the app asks for your prize number: a Rwandan MoMo number (MTN or Airtel) and the name on that MoMo account. The prize is sent there, so the name must be yours.
- Do what the challenge asks and send your entry inside the app. You see its status there.
- When a season ends, the team checks the winners by hand and pays the prizes by Mobile Money.
Bug Bounty and Idea Box
- Bug Bounty: open the card and tap "Report a Bug". Choose the section of the app, the severity (minor, medium or critical), and write the steps to repeat the bug. A link to a screenshot or a video helps.
- Test only with your own account. Do not open, change or delete other people's data and do not overload the servers. If you find a serious problem, stop and report it.
- You see the team's answer in "My Reports". If several people report the same bug, the reward goes to the first clear report. Fixed bugs are listed in the Hall of Fame.
- Idea Box: open the card, choose a category (design, new feature, improvement, speed or other) and describe your idea in up to 3,000 characters.
- Other users can vote for ideas. The team decides which ideas are rewarded and built; if yours is not chosen you see "Not Selected".
Kivu Ambassadors, Referrals & Quests, Moto Drivers and Creator Challenge
- Kivu Ambassadors: post about Kivu on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, Quora, LinkedIn, Medium or another site, and send the link in the app. A video or an article gives more points than a short post or a comment. Each link counts once.
- Referrals & Quests: collect stamps in your Kivu Passport by trying the sections of Kivu, do the task of the day, and invite friends with your personal link. A friend counts when they do something real in Kivu. Bloggers get their own link in one tap and have their own table.
- Moto Drivers: register with your moto plate number, go online in Kivu Express, complete orders, invite friends and put the Kivu sticker on your helmet. The top three drivers by points win. Passengers still pay you directly, with 0% commission.
- Creator Challenge: record short videos that explain the sections of Kivu, post them on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook or X, and paste the links in the app. When you have sent all tasks, your videos are shown to everyone and people can vote.
- In every points contest you see your points and the table in the app.
Kivu Scout (introducing investors)
- Open the "Business & Expansion" tab and the Kivu Scout card.
- Register once as a scout: your contact and a few words about yourself.
- Download the one-page investor summary from the card and share it with an investor or a fund you know.
- Add the investor in the app. You see the status of each introduction: new, in talks, meeting, contract, funded, paid or declined.
- The reward is fixed by the size of the investment and is paid only after the contract is signed and the money has arrived, to the scout the investor names.
- Never ask an investor for money and do not present yourself as a Kivu employee. Kivu signs contracts only with the founder directly.
What it costs
All challenges are free to join. There is no entry fee, no deposit and nothing to buy to get more points.
Kivu pays the prizes from its own money. Kivu never asks a participant or a winner to pay a fee, to send money first, or to tell a MoMo PIN or a code. If someone asks you for this in Kivu's name, it is a scam.
What is good about it
- Free to join, with real prizes paid by Mobile Money.
- Something for different people: testers, people with ideas, writers and video makers, moto drivers, people with many friends, people who know investors.
- Not a game of chance: you win by what you do, and every participant can see the points table.
- Prizes go to a MoMo account in the winner's own name, and winners are checked by hand, which keeps fake accounts from taking prizes.
- Bug reports get an answer from the team, and fixed bugs are credited in a Hall of Fame.
- Each challenge shows its dates, rules and prize before you join.
- The tasks themselves are useful: you learn the app, and drivers and businesses get customers.
- The whole app is under 400 KB and opens in the phone browser, so it works on cheap phones and slow mobile internet.
Limits, and what protects you
| What to know | What protects you |
|---|---|
| Not every challenge is open all the time. Several are marked "Soon" and have no dates yet. | Each card shows its status and dates. Entries and points count only while a challenge is open, so nobody gets a head start. |
| A prize is not certain. In Bug Bounty and Idea Box the team decides whether a report or an idea is rewarded and how much; many entries get no reward. | The rules and the way rewards are decided are shown in the app before you send anything. You see the team's answer to each report. |
| Prizes are paid after a manual check, so payment is not instant. | The check is what protects honest participants from fake accounts. The prize goes only to the MoMo number saved in your account. |
| The name on the MoMo account must be yours. If the number belongs to someone else, the prize may not be paid. | Save your own number before you join. If you change your SIM, write to the team through Contact Us. |
| Accounts that cheat — fake friends, copied links, false reports — lose their points and can be banned. | This keeps the tables fair for people who do real work. |
| Your name and points are visible in the tables, and in the Creator Challenge your video links are public. | Only the name and the numbers are shown. Your prize number is seen only by you and the team. |
| Kivu Scout pays only after an investment contract is signed and the money has arrived. Smaller investments and grants are not rewarded, and this can take a long time or never happen. | The reward amounts are fixed and shown on the card, so you know the terms before you start. Taxes are withheld where the law requires. |
| You need an MTN or Airtel Rwanda Mobile Money number to join any challenge, because prizes are paid only that way. | This is how Kivu makes sure a prize reaches a real person. Other ways to pay may be added when Kivu opens in other countries. |
| Some challenge screens are in English only. | The main rules are short and written in simple words. More translations are added over time. |
What Kivu Challenges does not do
- It does not run a lottery, a raffle or any game of chance.
- It does not take an entry fee or sell extra points.
- It does not ask for money, a MoMo PIN or a code to pay a prize.
- It does not promise a prize to every participant.
- It does not pay prizes in cash by hand or to a number that is not saved in your account.
- It does not make scouts, ambassadors or drivers employees of Kivu: participants act for themselves.
- It does not pay for test attacks on other people's accounts or data.
How Kivu earns from this section
Kivu earns nothing from Challenges. They are a cost: Kivu pays the prizes from its own money.
What Kivu gets is growth and quality — bugs found, ideas, honest posts and videos about the app, new users and drivers, and introductions to investors. Kivu earns in other sections, when a seller or a business chooses to buy a boost.
Questions and answers
How can I earn money with Kivu in Rwanda?
In the Challenge section of Kivu Super App you can win prizes for real work: reporting bugs, sending ideas, posting about Kivu, inviting friends, driving a moto in Kivu Express, making short videos, or introducing an investor. Joining is free. A prize is not certain: it goes to the winners of each challenge and is paid by Mobile Money after a manual check.
Is Kivu Challenge a lottery? Do I have to pay to join?
No to both. Winners are decided by points or by the team's review of the work, never by chance. Joining is free, and Kivu never asks you to pay a fee or to tell your MoMo PIN to receive a prize. Anyone who asks for that in Kivu's name is a scammer.
Does Kivu have a bug bounty program?
Yes. In Challenge open Bug Bounty and tap "Report a Bug": choose the section, the severity and write the steps to repeat the problem. The app shows a prize pool of up to 5,000,000 RWF; the team decides each reward by how serious the bug is, and duplicates go to the first clear report. Test only with your own account and never touch other people's data.
How are prizes paid, and when?
By Mobile Money (MTN or Airtel Rwanda) to the prize number you saved before joining, with the name on that MoMo account. After a challenge ends, the team checks the winners by hand and then pays. Kivu never asks for money or a PIN to pay a prize.
Which Kivu challenges are open now?
On 10 October 2026 Bug Bounty, Idea Box and Kivu Scout accept entries. Kivu Ambassadors, Referrals & Quests and the Moto Drivers contest are marked "Soon", and the Creator Challenge has not started. The app shows the dates of each challenge when they are set.
What is Kivu Scout?
A program for people who can introduce Kivu to investors or funds. You register as a scout, share the one-page investor summary and add the investor in the app. If the investor signs a contract and the money arrives, the scout the investor names gets a fixed reward from 5,000,000 to 30,000,000 RWF, depending on the size of the investment. Smaller investments and grants are not rewarded.
How does the moto drivers contest work?
Moto drivers register with their plate number and earn points for going online in Kivu Express, completing orders, inviting friends and putting the Kivu sticker on their helmet. The top three drivers by points win prizes. It is a points contest, not a draw, and passengers still pay drivers directly with 0% commission. The dates are shown in the app when the contest opens.
What are Kivu Ambassadors?
People who tell others about Kivu on their own pages: a video, an article, a post or a comment on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit and other sites. You send the link in the app and get points; bigger pieces give more points, and each link counts once. The challenge is marked "Soon" until its dates are set.
