Public launch: October 2026. - Where it works now: Rwanda only. Prices are in Rwandan francs (RWF); payments use MTN MoMo and Airtel Money. Expansion to East Africa is planned, not live yet. - Format: Progressive Web App (PWA). No app store needed: open kivu.site in a phone browser and tap "Add to Home Screen". It works on cheap phones and slow mobile internet. - Size and speed: probably the lightest super app in the world. Opening Kivu takes about 0.3 MB (0.0003 GB) — about 10× less than one phone photo, so 1 GB of data is enough for about 3,000 opens. The first open takes about 1 second, even on a slow phone and slow internet; every open after that takes 0.1 s (in the blink of an eye). Measured October 2026. - Price: free for users. Kivu takes no commission on deals. Kivu earns only from optional paid promotion (boosts) that sellers and businesses can buy for their listings. - Kivu never holds anyone's money (zero-custody). Buyer and seller pay each other directly by Mobile Money. Kivu is a board that connects people, like a modern classifieds site, not a shop or a bank. - Sign-in is required to use the modules (free account). - App languages: English, Kinyarwanda, French, Swahili, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean — useful for tourists and visitors. - Why "super app": one light app instead of many heavy ones. Kivu grows step by step from a classifieds board. - Data and offline: games, saved books, the last 50 played songs (up to 300 MB) and viewed map areas are kept on the phone and open again without internet. Chat photos are compressed before sending. No background location tracking: a driver's location is sent once on "Go online" and shared only during a trip. Videos stream from the internet. ## Modules - Market (Isoko): Free classified ads in about 30 categories — phones and computers, vehicles and parts, real estate, furniture, clothes, farm products and animals, services and more. Each ad has up to 5 photos, a price, a map pin and Chat and Call buttons, and stays until the author deletes it. - Group Buy: People join one order to buy in bulk at a lower price: buyers reserve units, pay the organizer directly by MoMo and send the transaction ID. The organizer confirms each payment and posts progress updates with photos; every purchase has its own chat. - Machinery: Tractors, trucks and other heavy equipment — new or used, for sale or for rent — plus "wanted" ads, with photos and the seller's phone.
